See you in 10 days!

This will be my last post for a while. I am finally going on my belated honeymoon to Cuba!

Goals:
•Have as much delicious cuban coffee as possible.
•Get a ride down the Malecón in an old Cadillac.
•Buy more Che Guevarra memorabillia
•Listen to some amazing music- maybe get Jeff to dance
•Relax
•Explore
•Relax again
The only part that hurts is having to leave my dog as I'm wayyy too attached to him I probably need to learn that he will be fine without us for 10 days.
Ok see you in 10 days!

Sketchbook Thursday

I bought a new sketch book in the hopes of motivating me to sketch at least one thing everyday, rain or shine.

It's the first day of spring..sort of

It's officially spring but it's -5ºC. I know I promised streetwear everyday this week so I've put in what everyone in Toronto is wearing today....their parkas.
I dream of flowy summer dresses and sandals.....

Sporty Lady-Monday

As promised, here is the first illustration of week! My figure is much too curvy to pull a look like this off but this lady does it effortlessly.

A personal post about fashion illustration

Since I have finished my website, I've gotten some interesting feedback from family and friends.
One of the comments was from my almost 90 year old grandmother (she texts and skypes so she's pretty with it for her age). She said, "I like website (of course she will say that, she's my grandmother) BUT I will say that I like your fashion illustration best and that I wish you would paint your other portraits like that". Then she said "Your illustrations look like they have a very developed and personal style" she also called my portraits "the heads" which I'm not sure how to take but that's another story. I must say my mind was blown.
I've been drawing fashion figures for as long as I can remember. It was my first love not fashion.
I always loved the look of fashion illustrations and being able to reflect how people expressed themselves in their clothes. A few years ago I was approached by a publishing company in China which I will not name because I consider myself above childish name calling. I was approached to have my illustrations published in a book. I accepted of course, my illustrations were published and a few weeks later I found out that I would not get compensated. I did not even receive a copy of the book to show family or friends. This of course was partially my fault and I'm no agent nor did I have one so in the end I got screwed.
After that experience I put the pencils down. After all making money as a fashion illustrator is something that very few people succeed at. Even though it's the thing I really am best at, I can't eat my illustrations for dinner so I faced reality and went back to work. After talking to my grandmother I must say though, that something in my head clicked. So this week I've gone back to my roots as they say. I will be posting a fashion illustration from the streets and the past for everyday of the week this week.
I will ALSO be selling prints of each illustration on the website. All artwork will be printed on high quality art paper and can be resized.

I love this dress. I could never pull it off and who says yellow and brown don't go together!
